Mind Body Spirit

Integration

Exploring the reciprocal relationship between mental and physical health

When people hear “mind–body–spirit integration,” they often think of taking a deep breath, unwinding, feeling calm — ultimately relaxation for the sake of relaxation. However when applied to trauma recovery and neurological function, these practices are so much more than a momentary escape. They are evidence-based interventions that influence our nervous systems, cognitive and physical health. Mindfulness and embodiment practices including yoga, meditation, breathwork, dance, and tai chi have been found to slow decline of brain health and enrich overall mental wellbeing. These practice also impact how our bodies and brains heal through:

  • boosting neuroplasticity by rewiring damaged circuits

  • boosting levels of growth factors critical for neuron survival and connection

  • decreasing stress hormone production, creating a more optimal biochemical environment for healing

  • preventing inflammation-driven neurodegeneration (linked to Dementia & Parkinson’s)

  • improving proprioception, balance, and motor planning

The Neuro Wellness Collectives allows the option to incorporate personalized wellness coaching into all of our classes and treatment as research shows that nervous system regulation, stress reduction, embodiment, and purpose all play a role in brain health and recovery. Our goal is to empower clients to not only achieve physical & cognitive gains but also to find inner healing and meaning.
